| Pick Up Item | Directional Pad | Just walk cost to any item to pick it up |
| Aim Shuriken | Hold  + Directional Pad | The target site is displayed |
| Throw Shuriken | Release | The shuriken is thrown at the target site |
| Aim Grappling Rope | Hold + Directional Pad | The target site is displayed |
| Throw Grappling Rope | Release | The grappling rope is thrown at the target site |
| Select Item | L2 or R2 | Use to select items your ninja has equipped. L2 moves the selection cursor to the left while R2 moves it to the right. |
| Use Item | | The selected item is used (The item indicated by the ring of fire cursor) |
| See Map | Select | Displays the mission (stage) map |

| Look Around | L1 + Directional Pad | The ninja stops and looks in the direction indicated |
| Pause | Start | Pauses the game |
